Dear Senator [Last Name],
Please oppose the draft budget-reconciliation bill that would:
- Defund Planned Parenthood and similar providers for ten years, and
- Cut $715 billion from Medicaid and the ACA, costing 13.7 million people their coverage.
Medicaid pays for 42 percent of U.S. births and keeps many rural hospitals open. Stripping funds and adding new work-requirement hurdles will block low-income families—especially in rural and underserved communities—from contraception, prenatal care, cancer screenings, and STI treatment. Planned Parenthood alone serves more than two million patients a year, many of whom have no alternative source of care.
These cuts would worsen our maternal-mortality crisis, shutter clinics, and drive up uncompensated-care costs for states.
I urge you to:
- Vote NO on provisions that bar Medicaid reimbursements to qualified reproductive-health providers.
- Reject deep Medicaid and ACA cuts that dismantle the health-care safety net.
- Publicly affirm every person’s right to essential reproductive care from the provider of their choice.
Thank you for protecting the health and dignity of your constituents.
Sincerely,
